I have also tried reinstalling but the same thing occurs. I too do not have a graphics config file either.
When i open the task manager i can see it go grey in the background. a window will load but its completely black. Fixed that by updating to new SP for windows 7 64bit. at first it was asking me to install concrt140.dll when i launched directly from the program file.
